Miscellaneous Boy Parties

This month, we are preparing for another baby shower that will happen next month and we are super excited for it! While we prepare for that, you enjoy this month's post about the boy parties we have designed things for over the past year. These are not parties that we have a lot of involvement in, yet we designed something for them.

A Darth Vader inspired Banner for a 40th Birthday Party.

Note how Darth's eyes are the number 40. It's all about the detail. The other is a door banner for the party.

My Nephew and his super cute Octonauts Party at at the local Gymnastic gym. The cake was awesome! I love that my sis-in-law finds things that can accessorize the cake without spending a lot of money! We are all about saving money when we can!

This is the Banner I designed for him. It was super fun to do an underwater/ocean banner that was boy related and Disney!

My other nephew had a Paw Patrol birthday and This is the banner I made for him. It was definitely a challenge as I am not familiar with Paw Patrol, but it was worth it! He loves them!

Here's his cute self and his awesome cake! He REALLY enjoyed it!

Mermaid Inspired Birthday Party

Hello from the Pea Pod! We have had quite the summer and while I thought I had this blog already done, when I discovered I didn't, it had to wait until the first quarter of school was done. So here I am. This post is dedicated to all the Mermaids out there. Sweet Pea is a HUGE fan of anything Ariel. We even bought her a Christmas present the other day: a talking Flounder. How cute?! Her party (complete with almost 75 people) was the highlight of my March. I love throwing parties and I love that she had such a good time. We even died her hair red (with some chalk spray).

Let's begin with the Invitation (made by More Peas, Please -yours truly).

You'll note the red starfish (That was a nod to Ariel's hair color and the flower she wore in her hair), glitter tail and all of the individual circles to mimic scales. The back had all of the details.

The AMAZING staff at Solomon's Porch took all of my ideas and made them a reality. From Crab sandwiches, down to the dinglehopper cake pops. Those are hand crafted chocolates on brown sugar. The M&M's I got from a groupon! The starfish shaped pizzas were a  HUGE hit. Of course Sebastian on the candelabra completed my vision for a treasure trove. See the giant balloons? Those are 24" clear balloons to make bubbles. Along with the seaweed bubbles (which instantly became a game with the children). The jellyfish are SO easy and cheap to make - just get a paper lantern, a plastic table cloth and some hot glue. Maybe buy a glove that can withstand the heat - oops. My fingers.

Here's a Menu I designed using clipart from Jessica Sawyer Design.

Here's the decor and some more goodies. Her cake was adorable with a mermaid tail splashing up out of the cake. The party favors were each child designed their own Treasure box and filled it with gadgets and gizmos a plenty. More signage made by us. The vinyl is made by a friend who does custom vinyl pieces. They have done quite a bit of work for me and I LOVE everything they do. You can contact our shop to get in touch with them to place an order!

Sugar Pea's bow was found at Hot Topic and her dress was made by the fabulous Gypsy Geek - Sugar wears her dress at least once a week! The Balloon arch was done by a Hawaiian friend who is a local for us now and I did the streamers of glitter dots in the background. I also found these free masks online and thanks to owning a business, I didn't have to cut them out by hand. SCORE!

King {Tritan} Pea, Sugar Pea, Sweet Pea and I (as Ursula) had an amazing day. I have to give a HUGE shout out to my girl, Jessica, for doing the photography. Why? Because for real, she has an amazing eye. You can find her at Aish; Photography

Wine Dinner Party

2015 was full of parties and great celebrations. A friend of ours contacted me about helping him pull of a surprise party for his wife. We totally pulled it off with the help of Kim and her awesome team at Glory of Zion in Solomon's Porch. It was a dinner party with a few of her closest friends, drinking wine and laughing. We know where the party was held, now let's give a shout out to the awesome photography by Aish Photography. Without her, I wouldn't have the awesome ability to showcase the work of yours truly along with Kim and her team! We also had wine pairing done with each course by The Barrel Room. Each wine was specially chosen by their amazing team. If you're in the area, be sure to schedule a tasting with them. It's pretty special!

We'll start with the invitation. This custom piece was inspired with a Napa Valley feel to it. The fork prongs have wine bottles built into them along with cork and mostly wine colors for a natural feel. Lots of nature browns and burlap were added but it still has an elegant feel.

This is the personalized menu with wine pairing for each course that everyone had on their plate. Mimicking the invitation colors and feel.

Here are the rest of the decorations. All of this was made possible thanks to the help of Kim's team. Barrels were brought in to add to the feel along with wood rounds, grapes, and fresh flowers in crates. The colors were soft. We had a bottle of wine for the guests to sign so that we could give her a memento to cherish for years to come. Also, I cut out circles and had everyone sign them so that we could group them into grapes on a framable art. Here's a photo of the finished art piece of her signed grapes.

The food was SO good. I seriously cannot express this enough. I can't even pick a favorite course because it was all so delicious. The decor change was a huge help to the space!

Nothing is complete without people to celebrate it with the birthday girl!

Star Wars {Dark Side} Theme Party

Any time the King Pea hears one of my friends' kids wanting to have a party that involves ANYTHING geek, he wants a part of it. When we were asked to help with a scavenger hunt, King Pea dived head in and even made me learn how to use my iMovie to make a holographic image video in a....yes....Star Wars Theme. He made a video to introduce the scavenger hunt, then went around to different businesses asking if they would hold a package for Chick Pea to pick up. He learned how to make his own lightsaber and then broke the pieces apart and had her get the boxes to rebuild it. He etched out the Sith creed on her handle and hand dipped it to make it marbleized. It is a fully functioning lightsaber built for a true Star Wars fan.

First, I'm going to show you the places where they had to pick up the clues. Chick Pea's friends had a blast figuring out King Peas' riddles. We want to give a HUGE shout out and Thank you to the businesses that allowed these tweens to invade their space this past Summer: Movie Tavern, More Fun Comics and Games, and Barnes and Noble. Our little city is so awesome at allowing things like this. Sweet and Sugar even got involved. King Pea dressed them up, made signs for them to hold, all while they waited to see the birthday girl. One guy thought they needed money...and gave Sweet Pea $20. Wow.

The birthday girl's mom was needing a place to hold the party so we did it at our house. I decorated in the "dark side" colors, put together components to make lightsabers and froze Death Star ice cubes. Here's the "setup". The girls made their own lightsabers with glow sticks and they had some other cute little things from Chick Pea's mom. A Darth Vader head filled with candy and

The birthday girl enjoyed her play time, cupcakes made by Solomon's Porch team, and her newly put together lightsaber!

In the Sith language, this is the thank you tag More Peas, Please made for the girls.

Minon Themed Party

Sweet Pea has a lot of friends that are VERY close to her age. It takes Sweet some time to figure things out. She likes to figure things out. Now, Sweet's friend had a party and that made Sweet bond a little more with Chick Pea.

Solomon's Porch at Global Sphere Center is headed up by Kim who is awesome at throwing events. We love having our parties there as well. She has been a lifesaver for our parties! If you need an event center, this is the place to have it. Newly remodled!

For the Minon Party, More Peas, Please made the invites, tags, signs and menu. In the following photos, you'll see the stuff we made plus some other things that made this party special!

Here's the invite:

Here's the menu and thank you tags along with the cupcakes that were made at Solomon's Porch had super cute little minions on top as well.

Staples came through again and made the print I designed into an engineering print for $4 (seriously awesome). We also did some photo booth props, designed the pictures that went in the photo frames on the tables, and Chick Pea's momma found some awesome movie posters and coloring books for activities to do during the party. The bottom right is where they all played pin the pocket on Kevin.

The photo booth was a HUGE hit. All 3 year olds were hanging out over there taking photos forever! This is the birthday girl in the box of FAME (not like the box of SHAME on the first movie).

Here she is while we sing happy birthday to her and we all eat the awesome cupcakes!

Butterfly Themed First Birthday

This Pea family has some pretty awesome neighbors. We finally have a comfortable block of people that mean more to us than just friends. They are like family! You may remember the Monkey themed baby shower we threw for one of our neighbors. A few months after baby chick pea was born, King Pea and I were asked to be Godparents. We were literally super blessed.

A few months more flew by and baby chick pea was turning one. So her mommy called and asked for a banner and cake topper for her smash cake. Baby is VERY shy and take a while to get used to people. She was not the least bit excited about the large crowd, good food, cake...but the presents, she was into! I took photos for our neighbor pea so naturally I have photos of the products I made.

First, here's the birthday girl and her cake. More Peas, Please didn't make the butterfly garland in the background, but I can upon request! The cake topper was made by More Peas, Please.

Here's some shots of the party space with the menu, banner, and cake topper made by MPP. Chick Pea's mom had some chocolate covered oreos there too. Everything was so awesomely good!

Here's the banner I made in the color scheme to complete with some pop up ones.

Close up of the menu.

Mommy had a really cool face painter!! Look at these beautiful pieces of art on their faces!

And lastly, mommy with the baby chick pea who is now walking and moving to age two a lot faster!!

Star Wars Themed Party

WOW! It's been a while - sorry for that, by the way. We have been busy and if you've missed ANYTHING, go to our Facebook page and peruse the photos we have posted. We have a bunch of new banners, invites, and other parties!

Back to parties from last year...I have to get caught up! Sugar Pea had a very big year. Turning five is a big milestone: it's then end of the toddler years with pre-k ending and starting Kindergarten. She had TWO parties last year and it was awesome for her. She still talks about both of her parties. Sugar's first party was in my hometown of Athens, Georgia. We yell Gooo Dawgs in this house (which is why there was a banner a few months ago).

My King Pea is a mega Star Wars fan. In a couple of months, you will see again why he is such a huge fan. I told him that Sugar wanted a Star Wars party and because he isn't the planner for out of town parties, I did a cutesy version of what I thought would be a girl version of the party. I did not make the invites because I waited too long! Shutterfly offered an awesome deal on some photo invites. It was seriously cute and probably the only time that I will do a photo invite.

Our awesome photographer and Mother Owner (over More Peas, Please) with Snap Pea Imaging and Design did our photos. We keep her not just because she's our mother company but because she's a great friend!

Let's start with the decor. I ordered lanterns from Paper Lantern Store (they have awesome prices AND huge lanterns) to represent the characters. Blue = R2D2; White with brown "buns" = Leia; Gold = C3PO; Grey = Death Star. We made lightsabers out of pool noodles and the pool noodle handles. The "Thank You" tag went along with the candy I found at Michael's that was SW themed and some glow sticks (that actually fit in the pool noodles to light up at night). The Menu was designed with cutesy names for Sugar Pea because she explicitly told me she only wanted Leia not Darth Vader anything.

Food: What's a party without it? So that's all on the menu. We used a popcorn bucket that was R2D2 for the nuggets, dipped pretzels in lightsaber colors, star crunch, etc. The Princess Leia Cake pops were made by my favorite Athens bakery: Bee's Knees. I bought a few molds off of Amazon that were Han Solo frozen in Carbonite and the Death Star to make Ice Cubes. It's intense work, but I love details!

Last, but totally not least, were our guests. Being from out of town, I relied on my High School friends to make up the guest list. They totally surprised me with their generosity and actually being there. My grandparents even drove in from Texas to help celebrate her special time. I am so grateful that after 14 years, I still have friends that care to make my Sugar Pea feel great. It was fun for Sugar to make new friends too. You guys totally are awesome. Thanks to my parents for letting me hold a party at their house - especially because my baby brother had graduated from High School and JUST had a party. Here's the birthday girl and my Sweet Pea as well in her R2D2 costume (yes, I made the shirt).

Sugar was getting a little warm (I mean her birthday is Memorial Day Weekend) so she took off her costume to blow out her candle. Then they went out to play with their lightsabers while my King Pea joined in with the kids. He does know how to have a good time.
